KILLER TORNADOS RAVAGE CENTRAL FLORIDA - TERRIBLE FLOODING IN INDONESIA (350,000 HOMELESS - DEATH-TOLL RISING!) AND AN AMAZING RESCUE!
February 14, 2007 - Wednesday - 5:31PM - Titusville, FL (Eastern Time U.S.) - Report submitted by Joe Hurston
Thank you for coming to the Air Mobile Joe's Editorial. Before I give you an update on George Spee, the missionary that we rescued off of Eleuthera Island (Bahamas) earlier this week, here's a quick update on some in our area and around the world. On Friday morning, killer tornados struck our area of Central Florida. The deathtoll is currently 20 with many injured and massive destruction.
As we were beginning our plans to deploy to the area of destruction, another ministry headed by Scott Bush, a National Assembly of God Motor Ministry Chaplain contacted us. Scott asked to buy a Vortex VoyagerTM water purifier to bring fresh water to the affected region. Within an hour of contact, Air Mobile instead loaned a unit to Scott and trained him. He's been working in that region since Friday afternoon (February 2, 2007). Our Lord knows how to deploy HIS troops RAPIDLY!
REPORT FROM INDONESIA - February 5, 2007 7:34AM -By IRWAN FIRDAUS, Associated Press
"We fear that diarrhea and dysentery may break out, as well as illnesses spread by rats," Dr. Rustam Pakaya, from the health ministry's crisis center. "People must be careful not to drink dirty water."
Since early Saturday morning (Feb. 3, 2007) news has been coming to us from Indonesia. Terrible flooding has occured in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and over 350,000 are homeless. We have contacted several mission organizations in that area and we're monitoring the situation very closely. We just received word that Vortex Voyagers TM that had been previously deployed in Indonesia are arrving into the disaster area. There is currently still a lot of rain falling and will likely continue for another week! THE DEATH-TOLL IS RISING! This situation could become very deadly! Please remember to pray for both regions (Central Florida and Indonesia). Your prayers do so much!! Now, on to the report on our beloved friend, George Spee.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!
Praise God! I spoke with George on Sunday afternoon (February 4, 2007) and he is recovering remarkably well after being released from the hospital! After extensive tests and a remarkable turn-around in blood levels he is now at his daughter, Ana's home in Melbourne, FL. Again, you all have been so precious to pray with us through this critical situation. Both George and his precious wife, Jean, wanted me to tell you all how grateful they are for your prayer and love. Now, here's how things unfolded on this amazing rescue!
George made it!! I landed N231HN (The Mooney 231) at 8:45am in Rock Sound, Bahamas on Tuesday morning, January 30, 2007. The Bahamaian Customs officials greeted me very cordially and cleared me quickly. Once through, I found George and Jean anxiously awaiting me. George was weak, but for the first time since his accident, he was able to sit. The Lord truly infused strength into him for the flight.
We carefully lifted George into the co-pilot seat and off for Fort Pierce at 9:35am . Everything went like clockwork, though the flight wore heavily on George. As I flew the plane, I prayed continually for George. As I climbed to cruising altitude, I monitored George's breathing to be sure he could handle it.
Upon landing at Fort Pierce at 11:45am (a 2 hour, 10 minute flight), the Customs officials were expecting us and we didn't need to bring George in. The officer came out to us. The Customs staff treated us with great courtesy and care, knowing the situation with George. It was with such joy to lift this veteran Amabassador of the Cross into the awaiting mini-van. Ana, his daughter was so glad to have her father back in the U.S.
George is far from out of the woods so I urge you to continue to pray for him. Personally, I can't tell you the joy that I've experienced just being part of this rescue. Each of you have joined together with us.
Immediately after sending out the notice to pray, e-mails came in from Haiti, Pakistan, Indonesia as well as from across the U.S. I praise God for this wonderful tool called e-mail! It is a powerful instrument to mobilize prayer quickly!
Oh, I must tell you, the Bahamians called George the "Honorary Governor of Eleuthera Island". This precious man and his wife have planted so many seeds. It's such a joy to be part of the PAYBACK for all the wonderful things he and Jean have done for so many.
Again, thank you for praying for us on this incredible mission!
Joe
